We invite you to come grow with us! About Words is committed to nurturing writers and is a full-service agency.
We have new management, new agents, and are actively looking for new clients.
About Words Agency has sold a few books lately including: Hunting Al Qaeda, by Anonymous (foreword by Gerald Schumacher), published by Zenith Press (MBI Publishing) and The Vision Revolution (formerly titled Super Human Vision), by Mark Changizi, Ph.D., to be published in 2009 by BenBella Books.
About Words Agency has always fully complied with Association of Author's Representatives (AAR) Code of Ethics and continues to do so. 100% of all income is from commissions on royalties from book sales and their subsidiary rights.
Agency Fees and Expenses: About Words Agency is a non-fee-charging agency, which means there are never any reading fees or any other fees. Submissions are made selectively, and are paid for by the agency. The ONLY source of income for About Words Agency is commissions from book or related rights sales.
Agency Contract: The agency contract for new authors includes a 15% commission for domestic sales, a 20% commission for subsidiary and foreign rights (split with the rights agent), and has a one-year renewable term. If the author brings a publisher to the table with a standard offer, we will reduce the commission to 10%.
Foreign and Subsidiary Rights: About Words Agency sells translation rights of books published in the U.S. to publishers in all other languages and countries directly to the publisher and/or using a well-established agency in that country.
Dramatic Rights: We have contacts directly with movie/tv production companies in Los Angeles, California.
